Come away and be still...you are personally invited to worship, relax and be renewed as you set yourself apart for time alone with God. "Sanctuary Me" is the theme for our 2008 Be Still Retreat. Jesus said, "Come with Me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." ~Mark 6:31 A quiet place is a sanctuary, a garden, a safe haven, a place of refuge and rest. Jesus called His disciples away from the crowd and they followed Him to a quiet place on a regular basis. Without intentional time alone with the Lord, we will quickly become empty and useless, fragile and fruitless and forget His voice and face. It is the desire of my heart for each woman who attends the Be Still Retreat to be drawn to the throne of God and to experience greater spiritual strength in an atmosphere of quiet natural surroundings. Every moment of the retreat is designed to be vertical and replenishing. If you desire to know Him more clearly, to follow Him more nearly and to love Him more dearly, then the Be Still Retreat is for you! Many Christian women come to the Be Still Retreat each year for the purpose of developing spiritual disciplines and focus on their relationship with Christ through the Word, Worship, Prayer and other spiritual disciplines. Hagion (in Hebrew) means sanctuary: a holy place, a safe place, a quiet place. Maybe it's the falling leaf across the creek, the quiet sunset resting on the silhouette of mountains, or the peaceful night sky filled with stars. Maybe it's a warm fireplace with your Bible or a candle-lit prayer walk. But until you accept the invitation, to leave the busyness, the responsibilities, the everyday demands, the interrupted schedules, your heart will begin to dim. We all need a quiet place, a refuge, a sanctuary to escape from the noise, the busyness, the fast pace, the external pressures and stresses of our life. We need to follow Jesus to a quiet place and find rest. We all need to experience sacred moments of refuge in the presence of God. He is your refuge, your hiding place, your sanctuary and He is calling you. Will you say to Him, "Sanctuary Me"? Discover the disciplines of learning and listening to Jesus. You will deepen your walk with Christ and develop a devotional temperament. It is the desire of the Be Still Retreat staff to restore the biblical purpose to retreating and to give women the opportunity to practice the "discipline of drawing near." The closer you draw near to Him, the closer He will draw near to you. Promise. Come and be still. Let Him be your sanctuary and your hiding place restore your soul. ~ Beth Ladd, Be Still Director ~ |
